Let the games begin: the relationship between video gaming and entrepreneurial mindsets

Purpose This article addresses the need for further conceptual development of factors that influence entrepreneurial mindset. It focuses on finding a link between classic mental models entrepreneurship and those are employed during video game play to explore if similarities exist. Design/methodology/approach Using theories opportunity recognition, study examines sample 217 gamers. Findings The results this suggest an individual who exhibits high level orientation (EO) has enhanced recognition capability when intensity playing games is also high. Various genres were controlled for; however, it was found shooting have highest effect emergence recognition.
